Rigid Foam
Product Description
Boards of insulation composed of various types of plastics. Polyisocianuate and extruded polystyrene used in both commercial and residential construction for value and vapor control.
Uses/Applications
Rigid foam insulation can be installed on the interior or exterior of a wall.
Interior applications include roofs, curtain walls, foundations, entry and overhead garage doors, pipes and tanks as well as climate-controlled storage units. It can also serve as an air and vapor barrier on an inside surface of a basement or crawl space wall, beneath a basement slab, or slab-on-grade floor.
Exterior applications include inside or outside foundations, crawlspaces, and slab-on-grade foundation walls. Sometimes foam insulation is installed horizontally beneath the foundation. Foam insulation sprayed or placed in wall and floor cavities both insulates and soundproofs. If used on an inside wall it must be covered by a fire-resistant material like wallboard.

Occupational Health Information
Most foam used in interior building construction requires an adequate fire barrier. Half-inch (1.27 cm) gypsum wallboard is one of the most common fire barriers. Foam boards and wall board may also be treated with a fire retardant.
Product Benefits
